New Year’s Resolutions.
You’ll be happy to know that I am in fact accomplishing mine. I know you were worried about this.
I decided long ago that I would only make New Year’s Resolutions that either
a) sounded fun or b) I was sure to accomplish.
(This may or may not defeat the whole purpose of the resolutions and self improvement, but I really hate failure).
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2012: Celebrate every holiday.
See what I’m saying, I am big.
I mean we have holidays so why oh why not make sure that they actually get celebrated? Upon further reflection I had to qualify ‘holiday’ with ‘federal holiday’ because actually there are just far too many holidays.
Regardless: Memorial Day = Federal Holiday
And to make progress towards my New Year’s Resolution, the day was celebrated with not one, but F-I-V-E ever delightful days of summery things.
It started Friday at the ever so fabulous roof-deck bar at Daedalus in Harvard Sq with these girls
And these guys. Yum.
And this girl also made an appearance. Yep, she’s the little sister from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She thought we had a good idea with kicking off memorial day weekend on Friday. And my friend Steph gets all the credit for recognizing her. Viewing of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air was not allowed in my household (#yayforrules).
It was just too good, saying goodbye was hard.
Saturday started with a beach day.
Hooray for Crane’s and sunshine. And thanks to Vidya for the picture.
And ended with an evening stroll downtown
For sushi dinner at this place.
It’s divine. Seriously.
On the water. View of the city.
Sunday morning included a bike ride
To brunch
At this place.
They both serve good food, and let’s be honest I like things that are named after me.
A a summer salad full of vegetables on Monday
and a summer drink full of fruit
You may or may not call this white sangria.
Tuesday (yes, Tuesday…I told you it was five days of celebrating) was cliffside walking in Newport
To view some mansions. Wow.
Complete with coffee drinking on the deck
And cocktail tasting and innovative seafood at this place.
Play by play tasting shots to follow. Brian loves* my incessant need to photograph things.
Which drink do you think he liked more?
And that was the Memorial Day celebrating.
I feel quite accomplished.
(Confession: I may or may not have entirely left out my other new year’s resolution to be able to do back handspring again because I’m totally failing at that)

That’s too funny Steph. We went to the same place to eat when we were in Newport in January. Had no idea you were journeying down…but then again, I know how you love to get away! :)
